Sweetening the Barrels: Our Farm's Journey to Bourbon Barrel Aged Honey

Here at our farm, we're passionate about creating unique and delicious products that showcase the beauty of nature. One of our most exciting ventures? Bourbon barrel-aged honey! In this post, we'll take you through the step-by-step process of how we make this liquid gold on our farm.

Step 1: Harvesting Honey from Our Bees

It all starts with our busy bees, who work with so much love to produce pure, raw honey. We harvest the honey with care, ensuring the quality and integrity of this precious resource.

Step 2: Selecting and Preparing the Barrels

We source freshly dumped bourbon barrels from Willett Distillery in Kentucky and prepare them for the honey. Our farm team carefully cleans and toasts the barrels to bring out the optimal flavors.

Step 3: Filling the Barrels with Golden Nectar

We pour our raw honey into the bourbon barrels, filling them to the brim. The honey is then sealed and left to age, allowing the magic to happen.

Step 4: Aging to Perfection

The honey ages for a minimum of 6 months, absorbing the rich flavors of the bourbon barrels. Our farm team regularly rotates the barrels to ensure even flavor distribution, all while soaking up the sunshine.

All that sweet yumminess just aging away in there.

Step 5: Bottling and Sharing the Fruits of Our Labor

After months of aging, we bottle the honey and share it with our community. The result? A smooth, full-bodied honey with hints of bourbon, apples, vanilla, and oak.

Conclusion:

Creating bourbon barrel-aged honey on our farm has been a true labor of love. We're thrilled to share this delicious product with you. It adds such a luxurious touch to many dishes with its rich notes of caramel, apple and a hint of oak. Perfect for glazing meats, mixing into craft cocktails or adding a refined twist to desserts, this honey elevates any menu.

Enjoy, friends!
